Senior Quantity Surveyor

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a market leading major contractor and work on large scale Rail Projects.

The company are an approved Network Rail Principal Contractor. They have been appointed to carry out renewals and enhancement works as part of the CP6 framework across Anglia.

They are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the Commercial Manager in all aspects of Commercial administration, reporting and control.
You will be responsible for leading your designated portfolio from pre-contract through to post contract and final accounts. This will encompass the design and build of multi-discipline rail projects from concept to completion.

Key Duties & Responsibilities of this Senior Quantity Surveyor role:

  • Provide assistance, support and advice on all commercial issues within the project(s).
  • Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.
  • Preparation of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
  • Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Administration of subcontract/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
  • Assisting the Commercial Manager with fulfilling the company commercial objectives within Pre-Contract, Post-Contract and Procurement functions.
  • Reviewing contract terms and conditions and identify commercial risks and solutions.
  • Undertake the contract administration, including change management.
  • Preparation, negotiation and agreement of change events, extension of time claims, final accounts etc.
  • Optimise contract turnover/profitability across all contracts.
  • Maintain/assist in the production of the margin improvement plan on the project.
  • Challenge and maintain in cost control/mitigation.
  • Development, motivation and performance management of junior staff.
  • Ensure the site team adheres to group procedures and governance.
  • Delegation of appropriate work to other staff, whilst maintaining accountability.

Who are we looking for?

  • Someone who can become a key member of the Commercial team delivering multidisciplinary projects.
  • Degree qualified in relevant discipline.
  • NEC contractual experience, particularly options C and E.
  • Previous rail experience required.
  • Civils experience beneficial.
  • Strong forecasting experience.
  • Commercially astute.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with the project teams.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Collaborative worker who can use their influence to gain results.
  • Present a professional image and promote the brand.
  • Initiative in problem resolution.
  • Highly competent in the suite of Microsoft Office (365, Excel, Word, Sharepoint, PowerPoint etc).
