The Opportunity

An experienced Senior Project Manager is required to lead the delivery of a major EPC infrastructure project within the UK energy sector. The project forms part of a significant asset replacement and emissions reduction programme involving the construction, installation, commissioning, and handover of critical energy infrastructure.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will be responsible for the safe and successful delivery of the project, ensuring performance against programme, budget, quality, safety, commercial, and client objectives.

This is a key leadership role requiring extensive experience delivering complex EPC projects within regulated and safety-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of a major EPC project through construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Manage project performance across safety, programme, cost, quality, risk, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineering, construction, commercial, planning, commissioning, and SHEQ functions.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, industry standards, statutory obligations, and project procedures.
  • Drive programme delivery, managing critical path activities, engineering interfaces, construction sequencing, and commissioning constraints.
  • Act as the primary site interface with the client, operational teams, regulators, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
  • Lead project governance, reporting, progress reviews, and performance management activities.
  • Support commercial functions including forecasting, change management, compensation events, cost control, and value engineering.
  • Lead project risk and opportunity management processes.
  • Oversee subcontractor and supply chain performance, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and programme requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture and ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and project SHEQ standards.
  • Support commissioning, testing, operational readiness, and final handover activities.
  • Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience delivering major EPC, infrastructure, energy, industrial, utilities, or process engineering projects.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex capital projects from inception through completion.
  • Experience working within regulated and safety-critical environments.
  • Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and contractor interfaces.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, programme management, commercial management, risk management, and change control.
  • Experience administering NEC contracts or similar forms of contract.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction health and safety requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management systems.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Experience

  • High-pressure gas infrastructure projects.
  • Compressor stations, pipelines, process plants, petrochemical facilities, terminals, or industrial assets.
  • Experience working for Tier 1 EPC contractors.
  • Experience delivering projects for major utility, energy, or infrastructure asset owners.
  • SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent health and safety qualification.
  • Degree-qualified in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered status or professional membership with a recognised institution.
