Due to continued growth across their engineering capability, they are looking to strengthen their leadership team with an experienced Mechanical Engineering Lead to support the delivery of technically challenging infrastructure and facilities projects.
About the Role
This Mechanical Engineering Lead role will provide technical leadership and delivery oversight across engineering activities supporting mechanical and infrastructure assets within a live dockyard environment. Working closely with the customer and internal engineering teams, the successful candidate will act as a key technical interface across multidisciplinary project delivery activities.
The role will involve supporting engineering delivery across the full asset lifecycle, including modification projects, infrastructure upgrades, maintenance support and new capability delivery. The successful candidate will provide technical direction, coordinate engineering activities and ensure engineering solutions are delivered in line with operational, regulatory and safety requirements.
This is an opportunity to work within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment supporting complex defence infrastructure programmes.
The key responsibilities for this Mechanical Engineering Lead role are:
- Ensure engineering activities are delivered in line with relevant standards, regulations and governance processes
- Support engineering delivery across the full project lifecycle from concept through to operational support
- Review and approve technical documentation prior to customer submission
- Ensure technical integrity, compliance and safety requirements are achieved
- Support configuration management activities across engineering documentation and system records
- Provide technical oversight across facility modifications and infrastructure upgrades
- Support asset lifecycle management activities
- Liaise with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders
- Support planning, risk management and project progress reporting activities
- Contribute to Authorisation Group meetings and governance forums
- Support installation, commissioning and testing activities where require
- Coordinate engineering resources across project delivery activities
Experience required for this Mechanical Engineering Lead role are:
- Degree qualified in Engineering or relevant technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Engineering experience within a highly regulated or safety-critical industry
- Experience leading engineering teams or coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities
- Experience delivering engineering solutions across the full asset lifecycle
- Strong understanding of engineering governance and technical assurance
- Experience supporting configuration management activities
- Experience engaging directly with customers and stakeholders within a technical delivery environment
- Sole UK National eligible for Security Clearance
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Mechanical Engineering Lead role are:
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience within nuclear or other safety-critical environments
- Experience supporting infrastructure or facility-based engineering projects
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical or process systems within industrial facilities
- Experience working within defence or MoD environments
- Experience supporting asset lifecycle management activities
