In a rail environment, signalling engineering enables operators to regulate the movement of trains on the network with minimum conflict or delay. A signalling engineer will choose to specialise in design, construction, maintenance or project management.

Undertake independent checks of the signalling detail design as per relevant standards and Signalling Design Specifications
Performing complex railway signal design tasks to relevant standards, industry codes and practices
Interacting with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimum outcome
Provide functional support and guidance to junior Design staff for all aspects of Signalling Design
Assist in the risk assessment of planned and completed designs
