​What is a Buyer?

The role of a Buyer is to research and purchase materials, supplies and equipment for the business and project they are working on. The role of a Buyer will often require you to be able to negotiate with suppliers to ensure you are getting the best price possible. As a Buyer you will also be responsible for updating inventory and ensuring that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.

Key skills to be successful as a Buyer will include:

  • Financial and accounting knowledge

  • Supply chain management and logistics

  • IT and stock management software knowledge

Fortifying Norwich Castle

This large project, which will transform Norwich Castle into a modern visitor attraction, will cost in the region of £10.5m and take an estimated 3 years to complete due to the fragility of the Castle.

Norwich Western Link Project

This project will see 6.1km of dual carriageway and 7 structures including 670m viaduct over River Wensum, with the aim to improve the network and accessibility in the area. The project’s cost is estimated at £107m with a duration of 4.5 years.
